Research Scientist I
The qualified candidate will join an established and growing team of professionals responsible for the design and development of new and improved Maine Standards Company products for the clinical laboratory, including VALIDATE® calibration verification / linearity products, calibrators, quality controls, and reagents.

Primary Responsibilities
The Research Scientist will:

  • Perform literature searches at product inception
  • Conduct product design and development activities for the in-vitro diagnostics market
  • Identify and qualify materials
  • Understand the analytical principles of methods used in design activities
  • Characterize product performance on identified platforms
  • Analyze, interpret, and present analytical results
  • Maintain an accurate and comprehensive laboratory notebook
  • Document and write technical procedures according to GLP and QSR regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, gained from 1-3 years of previous experience
  • Experience in an in-vitro diagnostic or medical device setting preferred
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related area is required.  A Master's Degree is preferred.
  • Quantitative skills
  • Ability to keep accurate, detailed, and organized records
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency

Maine Standards Company currently provides benefits that cover 100% of employee medical, dental and short-term disability plans.  For spouse and/or children, the company contributes 60% of the add-on cost.  Maine Standards Company currently offers a 401(k) plan and new employees are eligible to participate after 12 months of service.  The Company match is a maximum of 4% for a 5% employee contribution.
